The Thin Blue Line

I was asked if I might mosaic something for the upcoming silent auction to honor law enforcement.  I said I’d be honored to create something.  I decided upon this tray that I have titled, The Thin Blue Line.  Described in this way:

The “Thin Blue Line” stands for law enforcement’s separation of order from chaos, or, as Oxford Dictionaries describes, it’s a reference to police, “in the context of maintaining order during unrest.” … The thin blue line flag stands for the sacrifice law enforcement officers of this nation make each day.

AUGUST 18, 2018

4TH ANNUAL BBQ FOR BLUE, Sponsored by Operation Thank an Officer

The day includes music by The Plott Hounds and Jesse Becker, a bean bag tournament, the silent auction, and an officer’s salute.

Money from the silent auction goes to scholarships and memorials for law enforcement families.  I know many peace officers who rose to this call of duty out of a deep desire to keep the peace and see justice prevail.  I also know that a few bad apples can spoil any bunch.  I’m a teacher, I know how a few teachers who dishonor the profession can tarnish the whole lot. But I’ve found it is never good to paint any group with a broad brush.  I salute the men and women in blue who uphold their commission and take seriously their calling.  We need  you. We honor you. God bless you all.

No Greater Love

The original watercolor painting was created in memory of fallen soldiers who stood on the front line to keep our country safe. Frontline or thin blue line, it is all the bravest thing -to be willing to lay one’s life down for what they believe in.
