A small cereal bowl with black polka dots seemed to be calling from the shelf, “my turn.” So I took my wheeled tile nippers and snapped a piece. It looked like it belonged to a rooster…and so began the creation of a colorful rooster named Polka Dot.
I love dishes. I break them not because I think they aren’t worth saving, but because I do! Most of the dishes used in my mosaics are found boxed up at auctions, thrift stores or garage sales. They are hoping for a second chance. Mosaics give them a new purpose.
The chipped, out of style, mismatched, and long-forgotten dishes are given a new life. The lone polka dotted bowl grew into a one-of-a-kind, confident, bright and bold rooster!
