Broken Hearts

Broken yet beautiful… a heart that dares to love

Lots of Broken Hearts…

Lots of broken hearts hidden behind gentle smiles as we enter into February. Friends and strangers dealing with brokenness, sadness, and a daily wrestling match with questions that have no good answers this side of heaven.

The only good news, and it’s really good news, is that Jesus walks alongside the brokenhearted, He sits with them when walking is too hard, and He carries them when sitting up or getting up sounds excruciatingly hard. He knows. He cares. And He’s okay with all the questions, all the anger, all the tears, all the rage, all the stuff so many of those on the outside aren’t always as okay with. Thank God.

He promises comfort and He promises a better life to come. A really long best life of no more tears, no more pain, and no more broken hearts. I sometimes can barely stand the local broken news… but then I see beauty that takes my breath away. The quiet love that is seen in all the brave ones who get up, sit up, stand, and walk in the every day moments of life that are incredibly courageous and hope-filled. In Jesus, we are all just walking each other home. That is my comfort. He is with us and he shows up best through others who don’t do anything special and don’t say anything profound. But they pick up our backpacks and they sit, stand, walk at the pace of a brokenhearted friend, which is much slower than the world’s pace. The world will pass us by, but love is in no hurry…
